¹⁹ Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals^(A) and all the birds in the sky.^(B) He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called^(C) each living creature,^(D) that was its name.

⁶ The Lord regretted^(A) that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

¹⁶ Whenever the rainbow^(A) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant^(B) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

⁵ But the Lord came down^(A) to see the city and the tower the people were building.

⁷ Come, let us^(A) go down^(B) and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”^(C)

¹⁷ Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham^(A) what I am about to do?^{(B) 18} Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation,^(C) and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.^{[a] 19} For I have chosen him^(D), so that he will direct his children^(E) and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord^(F) by doing what is right and just,^(G) so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”^(H)

²¹ that I will go down^(A) and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”
